Roanoke Sierra Club Appoints Volunteers to New Leadership Positions

December 12, 2007.  The Roanoke Group ExCom appointed several members to leadership positions at its regular December meeting.

The committee created the new position of Area Coordinator.  In this role, volunteers will monitor the activities of local governments, get to know the elected and appointed leaders in the community, and represent the Sierra Club in proceedings that involve environmental issues such as growth, air quality, zoning, water quality & supply, energy use, parks, and conservation.  The new area coordinators are:

Roanoke County: Bob Egbert and Ed Kyle
Salem: Mark McClain
Franklin County: Jerryanne Bier
Botetourt County: Theo Evans

Local leaders are considering several individuals to represent the Club in Roanoke City, the most populous jurisdiction in our region.

Theo Evans was also appointed to be the groups Service Projects Coordinator.  In that role, she will be responsible for trail work on Falling Waters Cascade Trail, our 'adopt-a-trail' on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Other service projects that we have done include Clean Valley Day, Adopt-a-Highway, and the Fall Waterways Cleanup.
