The Green Holiday Potluck Party

Once again, in the spirit of the season, for the December Earth-Friendly program we will eat, drink, and be merry. As in the past couple of years, there will be food, music, and good conversation; especially of the Earth-Friendly kind. There will not be a formal presentation, but it is expected that some of our well-traveled friends will have nature-related slides to show. Please bring a covered dish to share and your drink of choice (alcohol is allowed).

Date:  December 11, 2009.  Doors open at 6:30, dinner starts at approximately 7:00 PM.

Location: The Unitarian Universalist Church of Roanoke, 2015 Grandin Road at Brandon (across from Patrick Henry High School).  It is free and open to the public, but everyone is asked to bring a covered dish for the potluck dinner.  For more information contact Bob Egbert at 384-7448 rsegbert@comcast.net.

Earth Friendly Friday is the second Friday of each month, and it is jointly sponsored by the Roanoke Sierra Club and The Unitarian Universalist Church of Roanoke.

About the Roanoke Group of the Sierra Club

Who we are:

The Roanoke Group is a unit of the Virginia Chapter of the Sierra Club.   The Sierra Club, founded in 1892 by the legendary John Muir, is the largest grass-roots environmental organization in the world.   We work on local, state, national, and global environmental issues.  We publish a bi-monthly newsletter and sponsor programs, social, educational and recreational activities for our members and the public (see CALENDAR of EVENTS for details).  For information about our officers and other leaders, click the "contact us" link to the right.

Where we are:

Our members, about 700 strong, live in Roanoke, Botetourt, Alleghany, Bath, Rockbridge, Franklin, Henry, and Patrick Counties, and the cities and towns within them. The diversity of our area ranges from the largest metropolitan area in southwest Virginia to some of the most scenic and remote mountain regions of the state.

Get Involved!

There is no time like NOW to begin, continue, or resurrect your active commitment to environmental protection.  Our "TAKE ACTION PAGE" is the starting point for your involvement!
