Ernest M. "Ernie" Dickerman
December 22, 1910 - July 31, 1998

Virginia's Mountain Treasures is dedicated to the life and memory of Ernie Dickerman - gentleman, indefatigable defender of the wild, and my dear friend and mentor.

For more than 60 years, Ernie fought to protect wilderness from logging and development, and is widely recognnized as the one most responsible for the passage of the Eastern Wilderness Act. It is because of his efforts that protection of the wildlands described herein is possible.

Hats off to you, Ernie, whereever you are!
