Seng Mountain

In the Seng Mountain area, the Rowlands Creek and Jerry's Creek trails form a 10-mile loop featuring the picturesque Rowlands Creek Falls. The Barton Gap Trail affords scenic views of the Corners Creek drainage area. Seng Mountain itself is over 4,000 feet in elevation.

Hurricane Carnpground borders the eastern end of the Seng Mountain area. The western end is near Skulls Gap Picnic Area and a relocated road (VA 600). The area receives light use.

The Forest Service characterizes 95 percent of the area as showing little or no signs of human alteration. Two creeks in the area harbor populations of wild brook trout. Two rare plants have been documented in the area: umbrella-leaf and Tower-mustard. About two-thirds of the area provides opportunities for secluded back-country recreation, and the area contains 216 acres of possible old growth.

The Forest Service identified this Seng Mountain roadless area, the largest in the NRA.
