Price Mountain

The scenic Price Mountain area includes a trail system of about 15 miles. A loop hike between Patterson and Price mountains is available, along with other loop trail options. It contains a number of hollows with streams that flow into Patterson Creek, along the boundary. Patterson Creek eventually flows into Craig Creek near its confluence with the James River. From this area also runs Little Patterson Creek, which drains into Patterson Creek.

The Forest Service characterizes the entire Price Mountain area as showing little or no signs of human alteration. More than half of this large area provides opportunities for solitude and backcountry recreation. The area contains about 335 acres of possible old growth. The Virginia white-haired leatherfiower is known to occur in this area.

The Forest Service identified this Price Mountain roadless area. It is adjacent to roadless areas on the north and south.
