Earth Friendly Friday, Fred First: "What We Hold in Our Hands". Earth Friendly Friday is the second Friday of each month, and it is jointly sponsored by the Roanoke Sierra Club and The Unitarian Universalist Church of Roanoke. Location: The Unitarian Universalist Church of Roanoke, 2015 Grandin Road at Brandon. It is free and open to the public. More>

Wednesday, August 19
3rd Wednesdays at 5. Meet at 5pm at More Than Coffee, a Lebanese restaurant near the corner of North Main and College at 235 North Main in downtown Blacksburg. We will take care of any immediate Sierra Club business, catch up on environmental news, and enjoy the good company. A regular event for the New River Group.

Saturday, August 29
Hike in the Mountain Lake Wilderness in Giles County. This wilderness area has recently been expanded, thanks to the passage of the Virginia Ridge and Valley Act. The hike will visit a scenic outlook over Johns Creek Valley. Meet 9:30 am at the Forest Service Eastern Divide Ranger District Office, Blackburg, located at 110 Southpark Drive just north of the intersection of Business 460 (South Main) and the 460 Bypass.
