This rule regulates particulates, many of whom are released by Coal fired power plants. Besides the inherent good of increasing air quality in an area with extreme amounts of suburban sprawl, these rules will tighten pollution regulations on dirty power plants, serving as an alternative way of putting more pressure on the Coal industry to stop polluting and start investing in actual renewable energy alternatives such as wind, solar and geothermal.
