Dominion’s Dirty Energy Plans

Another mountain blown up, another community destroyed

Coal fired power plant in VirginiaDominion continues down the path of an outdated dirty energy plan. Dominion's plans to build more coal-fired power plants will accelerate global warming, mountain top removal mining, the construction of new transmission lines, and the poisoning of our air and water. Every day, Dominion's "business as usual" means another mountain is blown up and another community is destroyed in Southwest Virginia.
MORE MONEY INTO BAD IDEAS: Dominion relies on more dirty, destructive coal and nuclear power plants, rather than significantly investing in Smart Energy Solutions, like energy efficiency, wind, tidal, solar, and geothermal.

MORE POWER LINES: Dominion invests very little in energy efficiency while planning to deface one of the most historic and protected landscapes in America with towers standing up to 16 stories tall and requiring a 50-200 foot wide right-of-way.

MORE DIRTY COAL: Spending about $1.6 billion on another dirty coal power plant in Southwest Virginia with:

* 400 more heavy and dangerous coal trucks a day going through small towns like St. Paul, VA,
* more mercury and global warming pollution,
* increasing pressure for more mountain top removal, unknown changes to the precious Clinch River,
* and more smog and acid rain causing pollution in our air.

Take Action against DominionTAKE ACTION NOW

Help us stop the Wise County Power Plant. In May this year, more than 200 supporters of clean energy turned out for a Rally in downtown Richmond and present Dominion with our mile long petition containing over 40,000 signatures, all in opposition to the Wise County Coal Plant. It was an impressive sight as notably captured in the video above by Chesapeake Climate Action Network.
